A Message from our Executive Director Looks like spring has finally sprung. February was extremely cold and unfortunately very slippery. We have a snow cleaning service but sometimes they can’t get to our facility until later in the day. With the inconsistency of Calgary weather, especially in March, please be extremely careful walking on the parking lot and pathways. As mentioned earlier, Bow Cliff Seniors’ 50th Anniversary is on December 19, 2025. We are planning to host a gala dinner celebrating our 50th Anniversary on Friday, November 21st, details to follow. We are starting to establish a 50th Anniversary Committee to help organize and support the Gala as well as numerous activities to be celebrated throughout 2026. This will be a large undertaking. We are asking for additional volunteers to join the committee. Please let the office know if you would be interested in joining the committee. Also, there is an idea box set up at the office for any ideas you may wish to see developed for this special celebration. Please save the date for our upcoming fundraising events, The Spring Bridge tournament on Saturday March 15th & and our first ever Hand, Knee and Foot tournament on Saturday April 12th. Please check with the office for more program and event information. Fundraising is extremely important for us to help offset our increasing expenses. For example, our February utilities came in at over $2,000 and I am not looking forward to the March bill. Super Membership continues to grow. We are pleased to announce that the Super Membership website is available at www.supermembership.ca. We are now at 14 Super Membership partner organizations with the addition of the Kensington Legion. Over 50% of our members are Super Members, which I believe is a testament to the benefits of the Super Membership program. Thank you to our lunch bunch volunteers who continue to work extremely hard in preparing and delivering wonderful meals. Costs continue to rise and maintaining the $12 lunch fee for our members is truly an incredible achievement. On behalf of Elanor, Liz and Despina, I wish you all a healthy, safe and warm March.
