A Message from our Executive Director
It’s hard to believe that we are entering fall already. We hope that everyone had a safe and enjoyable summer. Our fall programming will kick off in September with many of our programs almost fully registered. Please contact the office for registration details. Thank you for your support. It was a very hot summer and unfortunately with no air conditioning in our facility it was quite uncomfortable for many of our members, guests and staff. I am looking into grants and other funding opportunities to help offset the cost of installing AC. We have a unique building with a unique furnace. We are trying to find an efficient option to cool down our hall, which may be a full AC unit in our mechanical room. We don’t have the funds to do this on our own. Hopefully we will be successful in arranging significant funding to proceed with the installation of AC by the spring of 2025. A reminder that our first ever Bow Cliff 50+ excursion is the “Countryside of the Emerald Isle” trip to Ireland, scheduled for May 1 to May 10, 2025. We are partnering up with Collette and Omega National Travel for this guided tour. Please contact the office for more details of this exciting trip. I want to thank all our volunteers who help support our lunches, programs and services. I kindly ask everyone to respect the time and commitment that the volunteers contribute on a regular basis. It’s important that we recognize and thank the volunteers and let them know that we very much appreciate their support. Without our incredible volunteers, we would never be able to provide a luncheon for $12 that includes a beverage. Without the volunteers we could not offer over 100 FREE programs each year, like our conversation and learning cafés, walking clubs and member socials. Without the volunteers we would not be able to offer Bridge, Bingo and other card games for a $3 or $4 drop-in fee. Everyone’s time is precious, and we are incredibly proud of our volunteers.
